BUSINESS REPORT

GEORGINA IS A REAL TAX-MASTER

A newly-qualified associate at the Milton Keynes office of financial and business advisers Grant Thornton has double cause for celebration after achieving the highest mark in the world for the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) final exam. Georgina Gray joined Grant

Thornton in 2014 through the firm’s industry leading school leavers training programme and has spent three years studying to become a fully qualified accountant while gaining hands-on experience alongside the Milton Keynes Audit team. Georgina sat her final

training programme straight from school enabled me to qualify just as quickly as a graduate and doing so well in my exams has been the icing on the cake. “The culture here is very people-orientated

‘THE TEAM HAS

and the team has been incredibly supportive, providing help and guidance whenever I’ve needed it. It’s been hard work but well worth the effort.” Georgina will now go on to

ACCA P6 Advanced Tax exam at the end of 2017 and achieved the top mark world-wide, scoring an outstanding 92%; well ahead of the average pass mark. As an ACCA global prize winner, Georgina will receive a certificate of merit and £200, which will be presented at an industry dinner in London later this year. Georgina said: “Joining Grant Thornton’s

complete her degree in Applied Accounting and is currently on secondment to Grant Thornton’s Special Projects team to further expand her

knowledge and expertise. Grant Thornton’s

programme has dropped GCSE, A-Level and degree results as entry

requirements to instead focus on the individual’s talent, values and potential. Under the firm’s school leaver initiative,

candidates initially complete relevant higher apprenticeships before going on to achieve professional industry qualifications.

MARKETERS MAKING MOST OF MEMBERSHIP

Since joining the Milton Keynes Chamber of Commerce in April 2017, Vision 29 has seen the business grow from strength to strength through its membership. The marketing consultancy has

worked on a number of projects with fellow Chamber members including the creation of marketing strategies for Harts Food and Events and The Red Thread Partnership, and a social media audit for MacIntyre. Elise Davies, marketing

consultant, said: “We have met and spoken to a wealth of other Chamber members to explore the possibilities of how we can help to grow their business and we thoroughly enjoyed sharing our top 29 free or budget-friendly marketing tips at the business expo in November. “We ended last year by

welcoming the newest addition to the team. Jo Coxhill, our director, had a little boy on 29 December 2017. But while Jo has taken a short-term step outside the business to raise Bodhi, the rest of the Vision 29 team are busy working on existing clients and winning new ones.”

Newest addition: Bodhi 2018 is set to be a great year for

Vision 29. The team recently won the business to provide PR and social media support for the launch of a new members club for ambitious professionals in Milton Keynes. Elise added: “Our ability to offer

a service that encompassed specialist PR and social media skills alongside a great network of local PR connections as well as overall marketing expertise meant that Vision 29 was the obvious choice for this project. Exciting times lay ahead for our client and we are proud to be a part of it.”
