UNIVERSITY OF BEDFORDSHIRE MILTON KEYNES
The University of Bedfordshire Milton Keynes have given thanks to local companies who support their suite of ‘with placement’ courses. The education establishment
offers Business Management, Events, Human Resources, Journalism and Graphics undergraduates the opportunity to spend a semester out in industry – not tacked on to their course but as an integral part of the degree. The university matches the
student to the placement using their degree subject and aspirations as a guide – it is not the student’s responsibility to find the opportunity themselves. Campus director Dr Gordon
Mellor said: “Here at the university
of Bedfordshire Milton Keynes we pride ourselves on being at the forefront of the drive to ensure that graduates are vocationally orientated and employment ready. “We have always been well
supported by businesses and organisations in and around Milton Keynes and this year is no exception. Our current students have been given opportunities to work in and contribute to some exciting enterprises across a diverse range of the MK economy. “As last year I am left thinking, if
only I was in their shoes I would love to experience this! “The benefits of their placement
are long lasting, our students return to study more confident and focused, achieving better grades
and degree classifications. They have made contacts in areas that they aspire to develop a career in, and without exception have had a great experience.” Dr Mellor added: “We owe a
profound debt of gratitude to the businesses that host our students, both past and present. If you have not considered joining us, ask yourselves ‘why not?’ The benefits go both ways and who knows, you may have a placement student who is a senior exec or CEO of the future.”
