cheltonian interiors Say Hello to Spring

AbiPartridgeof Just Fabrics provides her expert advice on howto freshen up your interiors this spring

With theweatherwarming and the flowers blooming outside at this time of year,we sense the need to freshen up our interiors too. There is a reason it is called spring cleaning. As the daysbecomelighter and the temperatureswarmer, the barriers between the outside and inside becomeless noticeable andwe can create a spring feel with our interiors.

Freshenup Apart fromthe spring cleaning which is the dullest part of interior decorating, simply opening windows and doors freshens the air. Bringing in flowers and plants freshens rooms, reminds us of the season and can help keep the air fresh in our homes. Someplants are knownto counteract the effects of electrical appliances thatwe live with and of course they help replace carbon dioxide in the air with oxygen. If you are not going for a complete redecoration, invest in a variety of vase sizes for fresh flowers, (so you are ready for Mother’sDay) having a range of sizes; small for single stems, tall for long stemsand large mouthed for bouquets is useful but also think of jugs and bottles as alternatives. There are also a wide range of terrariums available for on trend succulents.

Tones Echo what is happening in the outdoors with your colour choices too.Dulux’s colour of the year: Heart Wood is a lovely lavender pink brown

colour which toneswell with the fresh greens and blues of the season. Using HeartWood with the cooler tone of blue adds freshness and warmth together whichmakes for a calm space. In springwe are drawn to the pastel tones of colours found in blossomand gardens at this time of year, which help create a calm yet fresh airy feel. With your garden doors being open more often, you may wish to change out your heavy warm curtains for lighter voile panels which will let more light in.

Florals and Botanicals Watercolour painted prints have been a trend in fabrics for a while and there aremany floral and botanicals prints in this effect, which can be used in your cushions and curtains. Herb garden is aVoyage cushion in thiswatercolour paint effect. The Floretta Blush and Herbarium fabrics fromClarke and Clarke are perfect for this. You could

Animal friends Spring is also associated with animals asmany are nesting and breeding and the birdscomealive in song. You could choose to use fabrics that feature birds or animals which create a spring, new life feel. Fabrics featuring wildlife such as garden birds, hares, butterflies, bees and sheep are readily available.
