chaefer Industrial Ceramics was originally started in 1979 as Schaefer Industries by Dr. Wes

The company offers both pressed and cast shapes. Schaefer Industrial Ceramics takes pride in offering innovative designs to help its customers improve their processes. These include specialized material compositions for extreme thermal shock applications and directionally solidified/single crystal processes, as well as proprietary designs to minimize turbulence in the casting of metals. There has been an on-going emphasis on improving the business from an operational stand point as well as offering new products to the Investment Casting Industry.

The

company expanded firing capacity in the early 2000’s adding high temperature capabilities for its alumina products. More recently, new presses were added which greatly improved both quality and productivity. One of the company’s most significant accomplishments has been the development of a shop floor control computer system. Now virtually

paperless, employees have access to all quality and manufacturing information via I-pads. The system provides full lot traceability from raw materials to finished product. Kilgore adds, “We continue to expand the scope of our system which now gives employees access to their attendance and vacation records, as well as company policies, safety programs, and all quality system
