Club vet Holly Baird catches up with the winners of our Guards Tally Ho Groom of the Month winners for 2017
P olo grooms. They are in
the stables before sunrise to tend their charges, often not returning to their own homes until well into the evening.
Their responsibilities are many and varied, with experienced grooms having a vast knowledge of equine nutrition and stable management, training and fitness, and first-aid and veterinary care. They are equine logistical wizards who have the greatest responsibility in the sport of polo: preparing and presenting ponies, ready to play, at the polo field. Their hard work is carried out behind the scenes and often overlooked. Until now.
