Letter from the President
Each year the National Kitchen and Bath Association hosts the KBIS (Kitchen & Bath Industry Show) and for the foreseeable future has partnered with the IBS (International Builders’ Show). It is a tradeshow that forecasts and exhibits new and innovative design and product technologies, learning modules and many opportunities to network with industry professionals of all levels. KBIS is the voice of the kitchen and bath industry and has been for 50 years.
Our local NKBA California Capital Chapter Executive Council members attended KBIS together for training in each of our new Council positions. The NKBA has provided this training for us along with the opportunity to attend the show and design awards presentations. We are an impressive chapter with some extraordinary talent in our membership. One of our most steadfast leaders for many years, Linda Panattoni won ‘Best Chapter Officer’ and ‘Best Chapter Rep’ which is so well deserved for her enduring devotion to the success of our chapter. Our chapters illustrious, Nar Bustamante won second place for his stunning and unique powder room design at the NKBA National Awards Competition. It is truly an honor to serve as President of such a great chapter in this organization to promote the epic quality of design talent and commitment to excellence we have. Congratulations Linda and Nar!
The National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA) is a non-profit trade organization that promotes professionalism in the kitchen and bath industry. Established over five decades ago as a network of kitchen dealers, it has become a champion association of designers, retailers, remodelers, manufacturers, distributors, fabricators, installers and other industry professionals whose mission is to help design and create safe, beautiful and functional kitchen and baths for all. The NKBA has implemented many changes that began in 2017 and will continue through 2018. These changes will help educate homeowners in choosing a designer, asking the right questions and working with a designer or remodeling firm.
Our local NKBA California Capital Chapter is also undergoing changes due to the restructuring of the number of officers on our new Executive Council and the creation of an Auxiliary Council. We have a need for more volunteers to assist with a variety of tasks as we approach a very robust agenda of events for the year. In addition to our monthly chapter meetings, our California Capital Chapter Design Competition and the partnered NARI/NKBA Golf Tournament, the most notable event will be our Sacramento Regional Design and Build Event.
The NKBA California Capital Chapter is excited to announce details for the Annual Sacramento Regional Design & Build Event, on May 11, 2018. This don’t miss event will be held at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation Hall in Sacramento, California. We will have a ‘Farm-to-Fork’ themed dinner presented by Hawks Restaurant and Hawks Provisions and Public House, as well as live art entertainment with David Garibaldi, live auction with David Sobon Auctions and music by Top Shelf Classics. Funds are being raised to protect our NKBA members’ right to practice, provide educational scholarships, and continuing educational credits for our membership. Money will also be raised once again this year for Habitat for Humanity who is a phenomenal partner and very worthy organization in need of our support. Both are 501(c) (3) non-profit organizations.
I am thankful for our new Executive Council, our Auxiliary Council and Committees for all their effort and support as we discover together how talented, enthusiastic and dedicated a chapter we can be in 2018. Everything is possible. As always, we need more volunteers and membership engagement to achieve our goals and we will have many opportunities in the coming months to rely on that giving spirit.
