HEALTH & BEAUTY - DR CLAIRE OLIVER

Before Fillers

which are used to restore lost volume – and Botox – which rejuvenates and smoothes fine lines. Tiny amounts of strategically placed cosmetic injectables can work wonders to lift, repair, strengthen and support. And that’s the key – any qualified practitioner will want to ensure natural, longer-lasting results, whether you are looking to enhance lip volume, redefine features or soften wrinkles.

But if you’re considering these treatments for the first time, how do you know who to trust?

For a practitioner to inject safely they need to be fully trained and hold an appropriate medical qualifications such as Doctor, Dentist or Nurse. I would always advise clients choose a medically-led clinic. Look for an experienced practitioner who injects daily, has highly trained staff and arrange a face-to-face consultation beforehand, particularly where a prescription for Botox is concerned.

There is no ‘one size fits all’ approach, so it is important to have an in-depth consultation before going ahead with any treatment. You should be told clearly what to expect before, during and after treatments and be advised on specific precautions you need to undertake and the follow-up care to be given. Expect to be listened to when it comes to your expectations, but equally listen to what can be realistically achieved. Ask to see before and after pictures

and testimonials.

Good quality anti-wrinkle injections typically last around three to five months, whereas fillers can last six to nine months or more, depending on the target area and the amount used. As everyone’s skin is different, a bespoke treatment plan should be offered to you to help restore and maintain a refreshed appearance.

You know the saying, “if something looks too good to be true, it probably is”? If you find somewhere offering cheap fillers and anti-wrinkle injections be wary! We all want a good deal, but you may well be left disappointed by the results or at worse a complication if they are using sub-standard products. A good indicator of an authentic and professional clinic is to find out what they clients say. Look to see if the clinic have they been recognised as deliverying excellent treatment and customer experience.
