Elmo is a five-year-old

Dachshund with Intervertebral Disk Disease (IVDD). He has had his custom-fitted wheelchair

for about a year, taking to it right away. He hasn’t slowed down

since. In fact, he participated in the Florida Dachshund

Rescue Wiener Races soon after we took these photos of him

at the Florida State Fairgrounds on October 21.

The 17th Annual Stride for Strays took place on Sunday, October 22 at beautiful Perry Harvey, Sr. Park, Tampa. As the biggest fundraiser of the year for ACT, the money helps provide low cost spay/neuter sur- geries in the Tampa Bay Area. (Left to right):Ms Peggy Sue, the 11-year-old Pug riding around in her lit- tle red wagon. Jennifer, Gracie and Hunter all run together. Gracie has a scar around her waist and the fur around the scar has turned white. Gracie already had the scar when Jennifer adopted her. Jessica poses for a photograph in the park with her dog Harvey, whom she adopted from the Humane Society of Tampa Bay several years ago. He was once a Pit Bull Ambassador for Bad Rap, a California organization, nationally recognized for working with shelters around the country. Photographs by Anna Cooke.
