The New Barker’s Diane Rosenberg recently met David Frei, the former voice of Westminster, in Jacksonville.

Second Annual Therapy Animal Expo Included a Very Special Guest.

Jacksonville - Therapy Animal Coalition (TAC) a Jacksonville, Florida organization that brings together therapy-animal training, registration and on-site programs, hosted its second annual Therapy Animal Expo. Held at the Schultz Center on October 7, the event included the keynote address, given by David Frei, the longtime voice of the Westminster Kennel Club and the National Dog Show. Frei is also very knowledgeable about pet therapy, having founded Angel On A Leash, a charity that supports a therapy-dog program at New York-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital. “The overwhelming success of last year’s Expo demonstrated

to us that we had touched on a need in the community,” said Kristi Leonard, president of TAC’s board of directors. Billie Smith, exec- utive director of Alliance of Therapy Dogs, one of the nation’s largest therapy dog registering organizations, was another guest speaker. Also among the speakers was The Rev. Elizabeth Teal, a leader in working with therapy animals and ministry animals since 1985. “The stories David Frei shared with the audience were from

his latest book, “Angel On A Leash” about the world of therapy dogs and his life with dogs in general,” said The New Barker’s Diane Rosenberg.“They were so touching that brought many of us to tears, including David.” Therapy Animal Coalition
