IT company marks milestone anniversary with firm rebrand

This year Acronyms, one of Plymouth’s largest independent IT companies, will be celebrating its 15th anniversary. In that time, they have witnessed huge disruption and change, as

businesses have become more reliant on technology and the internet. Nonetheless, they firmly believe that their commitment to providing only the right solution, an ethos that the company was founded on, is the reason that they have been able to flourish. Fed up with overselling in the IT industry, Dave Smith, Managing Director

of Acronyms, founded the company with his then business partner Amos Swan. He said: “Reliance on technology and a

lack of in-depth knowledge make it easy for businesses to be exploited when it comes to their IT. Every business is different, with different customers, staff, processes and aspirations and so rarely is there a one-off, off-the-shelf solution. We wanted to form a company that provided businesses with the support that they needed, in order to help their businesses grow, and despite the over- whelming change with technology, it’s no different today.” At the end of last year, Acronyms unveiled a new brand identity. It was designed to give the company a more recognisable image, that better conveyed this ethos that underpins everything they do. It followed a period of recruitment which saw the company grow across three teams and was quickly followed by the implementation of new internal software.

‘The improved image is our way of shouting about what we do’

Dave added: “We have made a commitment to provide services that are

fit for purpose and to honour that commitment, we must invest in our own infrastructure. New employees allow us to increase capacity, whilst new software allows us to improve our offering. The improved image is our way of shouting about what we do and while I’m extremely proud of our hard work to date, we’ve not always been the best at promoting ourselves. I want to ensure all businesses have the technology they require. To do that, they need to know about us!”

Acroynms display new branding on their vans Walk your way to workplace wellbeing

Can you help your colleagues make a walk part of their work? The Big Devon March, the county’s hottest walking campaign is back this spring, challenging businesses in Devon to walk a little more before, during and after the working day. Following the success of the

campaign last year, more Devon businesses are invited to join in 2018, competing in small teams of up to six people. Every team member logs every mile they walk through an easy app and collectively their goal is to walk 630 miles during March - that’s the same as walking the entire length of the South West Coastpath!

“Last year 77 businesses took

part and absolutely loved the simplicity of the Big Devon March challenge,” said Tom Mack (pictured) who is leading the campaign on behalf of Active Devon. We’ve mixed it up for 2018 so that people compete in small teams and there are plenty of prizes to be won as teams fight it out for top spot on the leaderboard.” The Big Devon March is run by

Active Devon on behalf of Devon County Council, with funding awarded by the Department for

Transport’s Sustainable Travel Transition Fund. It’s all about inspiring us all to be creative in the ways that we fit more walking into our everyday routines. Walking is well known to have a fantastic range of benefits; mental, physical and emotional, which all play an important part in workplace

wellbeing.

It’s all completely free and lots of fun. Fancy joining in? Register your interest activedevon.org/ MarchWithUs or call 01392 925150.
