Mrs & Mr Jones


Our very own couple, Mrs and Mr Jones, hosts our travel section. They thoroughly investigate destinations ideal for a little trip away revealing vital tips on a glamorous getaway and also provide the inside track to ensure the destination caters for a range of tastes and wallets. From the slickest city hangouts to peaceful boltholes, you won’t waste a moment planning your travels.


This month they visit Villars in Switzerland


Mrs Jones felt it was high time for a skiing holiday. She’d had enough of the long, miserable, dark winters in England and decided to head to the slopes for some bracing mountain air and to tone up after a particularly indulgent Christmas.


Friends of theirs had recently returned from the chocolate-box, family resort of Villars – a well kept secret amongst those in the know and home to Fanny Smith, the legendary Swiss Freestyle Skier and many of the Formula One superstars. The thought of sharing a button lift with


Jacques Villeneuve sent Mrs Jones’ heart racing in anticipation! She particularly like the idea of no queues or riff raff (as was the case in many of the other resorts) and relished the challenge of using her rusty schoolgirl French on a young ‘Prof du Ski’. Having relinquished any thoughts of a dry January, Mr Jones felt it was high time for a proper vin chaud and a bit of après ski.


Getting There: Mrs and Mr Jones flew from Birmingham with EasyJet to Geneva (though they toyed with the idea of taking Swiss Air from Heathrow or even the train from St Pancras direct to the Alps).


On arrival at Geneva airport they hired a car through Sixt and drove to Villars in just under 1.5 hours. An easy drive, which skims around the stunning Lake Geneva and cuts through the majestic Swiss Alps before climbing up into Villars. (They could have
