Fresh from the deli… Although perishable, the deli is the best place to start building your luxury festive hamper. Cooked and cured meats are a great starting point, whether you are creating a hamper for someone who likes traditional fl avours or someone a little more adventurous.
Visit your local farm shop, deli or even butchers like Jon T orner’s or Brian Etherington’s Meat Co. to choose from a wide range of cooked meats and slices, as well as oven-ready joints and birds. Visiting the deli means you can talk to the professional to get recommendations and gain inspiration to help create a hamper full of interesting components. And of course, with meat comes cheese – another hamper essential. Select small wedges from a large range of cheese to create a hamper with lots of variety.
Savoury pastries, such as pasties, pork pies and sausages rolls are also great additions. Both Brian Etherington’s Meat Co. in Cornwall and Jon T orner’s in Somerset have a ‘build your own’ hamper service in which you can select from a choice of products personal to the recipient. If a traditional pasty doesn’t take their fancy perhaps opt for banger or two – it really is the perfect way to personalise your shopping.
