It’s Not Just The Grinch Who Steals Christmas!


Every year there’s an increase of burglaries around November, December and January time.


With a mixture of longer dark evenings/nights, the run up to Christmas and expensive gifts being bought and received contributing to that increase.


We should all ensure we hold onto those presents and indeed all of our property by taking a look at our homes like a burglar would. Ask yourself how you’d get in and ensure those areas are secure, don’t leave downstairs windows open if you’re out and ensure anything of value is out of sight from windows.


It’s a well-known fact that there’s been a 10% rise in reported crimes in 2017, which is the largest annual rise in a decade and robbery is up by 16% – this at a time when police offi cer numbers are at their lowest since 1985. This means that more than two thirds of burglaries and other types of theft have their investigations closed with no suspect identifi ed.


An intruder alarm system can help make a home more secure, will act as a deterrent and give you


peace of mind knowing you have some protection. There’s some excellent equipment available and with the aid of an app on your smart phone you can even see what’s going on at home if you’re not in.
