County Councillor Update Dear Residents,


The latest news from the Councils is that the Secretary of State is ‘minded’ to agree to the reorganisation of the Councils in Dorset into two Unitary Councils, Rural Dorset as one and then Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole as the other. A public consultation has been launched which will run until 8th January, so if you want to have your say please do so now. The rural Dorset Unitary Council, which is where Corfe Mullen will lie, will cover a very large area, so our Parish Councils will become more important and we hope that not only will they have more power and responsibility, but also more money to carry out their duties.


Already we have reached December and very soon it will be Christmas! Christmas is the season of fun and goodwill, of children, nativity plays, carol concerts, parties, Christmas trees and decorations. For some I am afraid, it can also be stressful – or the season of eating and drinking too much and spending too much money. I hope you all have a happy time, but please remember that for some people, especially those on their own, Christmas can be diffi cult, so please look out for them too.


After Christmas comes the end of the year and then we look forward to the new beginnings of 2018.


I hope you all have a very Happy Christmas and I look forward to seeing you in the New Year.
