SIMMONS EDECO APPOINTS NIELS VERSFELD AS CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
SIMMONS EDECO, a leading global oilfield service provider, has appointmented Niels Versfeld as Chief Executive Officer.
Versfeld brings in-depth management experience in the oil and gas industry, with particular emphasis upon building and leading growth initiatives.
RIGQUIP ACHIEVES EUROPE FIRST API Q2 DRILLING EQUIPMENT QUALITy CERTIFICATION
RigQuip has become the first company in Europe to achieve American Petroleum Institute (API) Q2 certification for drilling equipment inspection, service, repair and recertification. It has also secured the standard for provision of engineering services.
API Q2 is the first quality management standard specifically for drilling industry service companies. Its purpose is to reduce risk and improve service quality by identifying and standardising expectations for execution of services within the sector.
The certification recognises the company’s robust approach to quality management as the business continues to provide drilling contractors and operators with a cost-effective alternative to major original equipment manufacturers.
Headquartered in Aberdeen, RigQuip designs and engineers drilling equipment packages and provides associated aftermarket maintenance of equipment including hoisting and lifting equipment, pipe handling systems, power and control systems, pressure control equipment as well as solids control and mud systems.
The company has invested hundreds of thousands of pounds to achieve the API Q2 standard over a three-year period. This includes investment in its quality management team with the recent appointment of Paul Naysmith as QHSE Manager, who brings vast oil and gas experience from Expro in both the UK and the US. He also brings with him significant experience from the aerospace and pharmaceuticals industries having spent significant time at Rolls Royce and Johnson & Johnson in quality manager roles.

With 14 years of experience in the energy industry, Versfeld dedicated 10 years to managing sales, operations and business development for energy services companies. Before joining SIMMONS EDECO, he served as General Manager of Gibson Energy’s Environmental Services Division, during which time he was instrumental in expanding the company’s businesses in Canada and the United States. Previously, he worked as Chief Operations Officer for Palko Environmental, until it was acquired by Gibson Energy in 2011. Throughout the course of his career, Versfeld has worked in a variety of roles, initially as an environmental consultant serving the energy sector, and as an Environment & Regulatory Manager for CCS Corporation.
A native of Calgary, Alberta, Versfeld holds an Honours
B.Sc. in Environmental Science and an MBA in Global Energy Management & Sustainable Development from University of Calgary. He is also a Canadian Certified Environmental Professional.
ZAMIL OFFSHORE SERVICES AND UTEC ANNOUNCE STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP FOR OFFSHORE SURVEy IN THE KINGDOM OF SAUDI ARABIA
Zamil Offshore Services and UTEC, an Acteon company, have formed a strategic partnership where both companies will work together exclusively to execute offshore survey projects in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The partnership brings together two leading contractors; UTEC, with its global survey experience, and Zamil Offshore with its marine and offshore operations experience and local in-Kingdom knowledge.
UTEC has upscaled its operations in the Middle East since establishing a presence in the region 18 months ago. The company has invested in growth and now employs 20 onshore and offshore personnel from its office in Abu Dhabi. UTEC has been successfully working in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, providing positioning equipment and construction support for pipelay and jacket installation operations, since March 2017.
