SUBSEA COMPANIES TO CASH IN FROM NSRI FUNDING EVENT Dr Drummond commented:
Fledging subsea firms discover how they can overcome common financial challenges through industry supported and government-backed initiatives at an event in Aberdeen during October.
The workshop explored the wide range of tools and resources available to SMEs, technology developers and innovative companies, providing market expertise, funding, skills and organisational support.
Hosted by Dr Gordon Drummond, Project Director of NSRI (National Subsea Research Initiative), the event welcomed speakers from Innovate UK, Elevator UK, Interface, the Advanced Forming Research Centre, Aberdeen University’s Knowledge Transfer Partnership and Scottish Enterprise.
Attendees also learnt how to benefit from a suite of services to accelerate their ideas and fund products and services from proof of concept to commercialisation.
Ian Phillips, Chief Executive of the Oil and Gas Innovation Centre (OGIC), Chris Pearson, Solutions Centre Manager at the Oil and Gas Technology Centre (OGTC), and Andrew Tippling from the Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult, also took to the stage to discuss how each organisation can support ambitious companies and entrepreneurs.
The UK subsea sector leads the way around the globe, however to remain at the forefront of an increasingly competitive market, we must do everything we can to ensure that innovative companies receive the support they need to grow and get their technology off the ground.
There are developers out there with ideas, products or services that could revolutionise the
industry but don’t have the funds or resources to take it to the next stage. Open to start-ups as well as large organisations, the event aims to encourage the sector and academia to collaborate effectively to ensure these much-needed technologies are progressed and adopted.
At NSRI we are determined to build on the country’s existing strengths and support the supply chain by breaking down barriers, whether financial or operational to sustain long-term growth.
