LIFTEX 2017 PREVIEW
PREPARE FOR THE BEST-EVER LIFTEX Organisers of LiftEx 2017 are putting the finishing touches to the most exciting package of visitor attractions in the event’s history. Bringing together a compelling line-up of conference speakers, an action-packed exhibition hall, ‘hands-on’ engineering challenges and unique networking opportunities, this year’s show is designed to offer something for anyone with an interest in overhead lifting and work-at-height solutions.
Representing the UK’s only conference and exhibition dedicated to overhead lifting and work-at-height, LiftEx 2017 takes place on Wednesday 29th and Thursday 30th November at the International Centre Telford – right in the heart of England. The conference runs on the first day of the show, and will feature speakers drawn from the private sector, employer organisations and specialist training and engineering consultancies. A truly eclectic mix of issues will be explored, encompassing the impact of Brexit, the challenges involved in creating
a proactive safety culture, the design of moving structures, benefits and applications of magnetic wire rope testing, and the specific demands of safe, legal lifting in the entertainment sector. Delegate places can be booked online at:
www.liftex.org/conference
Alongside the conference, admission to the two-day trade exhibition is free-of- charge. Here visitors will be able to see the latest offerings from around 100 leading suppliers. Lifting equipment inspectors can also find out how their skills measure up in LEEA’s new Proficiency Test Challenge. Meanwhile, in the Innovation Theatre on Thursday, suppliers have just ten minutes to pitch their latest products, services and applications. Contenders for the Innovation Fast Pitch Award this year include ground- breaking developments from Hydra-Slide, ROCOL, Van Beest, Sampson Rope and CMCO. Visitor registration is now open at:

Bringing together hundreds of end users,
suppliers and other stakeholders, LiftEx also creates unrivalled networking opportunities. Furthermore, for the very first time, non-members of LEEA, the organisers of LiftEx, will be able to attend the association’s drinks reception and dinner dance on the Wednesday evening. Advance booking for this ever-popular social event is essential, with full details at:

LIFTEX SPEAKERS SPEAKER: CRISTIANO GIAVEDONI COMPANY: BLUMANO LTD SESSION TITLE: LIFTING OPERATIONS IN THE ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY
A session that examines current issues and challenges surrounding the integration and use of chain hoist and winches in the event industry. There are many thousands of hoists in use in the EU of which the owner or user completes the manufacture/integration of the machinery by fitting the chain, electrical connectors and control systems. That places duties squarely on the shoulders of the person who completes the system either as part of an installation, temporary or permanent, or as a rental package. Even when a hoist system is supplied complete the user inherits from the manufacturer all responsibility related to the machinery indented use. Presented by Cristiano Giavedoni, the session will also update the audience concerning the CEN TC433/WG1 works to publish an European standard for Lifting and Load bearing equipment for stages and other production areas within the entertainment industry.
SPEAKER: BARRIE MORDUE COMPANY: TENSOLOGY LTD SESSION TITLE: CRANE ROPE INSPECTION & DISCARD - MAGNETIC ROPE TESTING Barrie will explain to delegates how and why magnetic testing of wire rope is set to play a wider role in lifting equipment examinations.
