Amazon Restaurants What do they not do? The behemoth machine

that is Amazon, has undoubtedly made a sizable splash in the prepared food delivery game. Their delivery infrastructure, marketing prowess and organizational history definitely gives them leverage. It really is massive and the choices offered reflect that…In every major city they inhabit. Choose your cuisine, choose the restaurant, choose your favorite dish, and voila! Amazon guarantees delivery to your door in an hour or less and does not charge a fee for Prime members. And that’s the trick—you have to be a Prime member to really reap the benefits—but nowadays, who isn’t? amazon.com/restaurants

UberEats Uber drove themselves into the game of food

delivery services back in 2015, taking advantage of their already in place, wide network of drivers and current infrastructure. Want McDonalds or Jack in the Box? How about your favorite Mexican, Thai or Italian or maybe something from your favorite local eatery? DONE…right from your computer or via their phone app. UberEats brags about the average time of delivery from start to finish, as 35 minutes, making it one of the faster delivery companies out there. Convenient, for sure, fast, check…The downside? Service and delivery fees charged to end users. But seriously folks, those latenight cravings can be a bitch and I’m guessing the cost/benefit ratio becomes a moot point at 1 a.m!ubereats.com

OrderUp OrderUp follows pretty closely to the same

model that other companies employ. The difference? They focus hard on social engage- ment from their end users via their phone app and website. For restaurant partners OrderUp brings with them some pretty robust local marketing for participating organizations, which can be really good for exposure. There’s recently been some confusion with OrderUp and GrubHub, due to the fact that the two companies are merging and working toward becoming one-in-the-same. For now, they both maintain separate presences online but that may change in the near future. Fun feature: You can keep an eye on your food through their delivery tracker! orderup.com

Delivery.com Delivery.com is probably the closest competitor

Eat24hours “40,000 reasons not to cook…” that’s the tag

line for Eat24hours. It’s based on the fact that they have 40,000 restaurants in more than 1,500 U.S. cities to choose from, touting over a million differ- ent dishes to choose from. The organization has really developed the user experience and added tons of value: A phone app or online experience that includes a social network for posting about your dining experience for other users to read, even a loyalty-type program that rewards cash back for future orders. Eat24hours is another free service, but leans heavily on the restaurants absorbing a higher commission for each order placed. They also have the convenience of 24-hour delivery.eat24hours.com

Postmates This one is a unique player in the food delivery

game. Postmates has set themselves apart by enabling anyone to have anything delivered to them on-demand: Lunch, dinner, groceries, office supplies or anything else. Yes, it literally means you can order Post-it Notes, a quiche, dog food and Diet Coke…and PostMates will deliver it all to your front door post haste through their wide network of couriers. A word to the wise, depending on what you order, hefty delivery fees can be levied for this service. Begging the question: How much value do you place on your time?postmates.com

for PostMates in the sense that they extend beyond just food delivery from restaurants. Delivery.com’s website offers four broad categories for you to begin your request: Local restaurants, beer, wine and spirts, groceries and home essentials, dry cleaning and more! The benefit to using Delivery.com vs. PostMates? Free service and loyalty reward points. delivery.com

With so many options for food delivery and a

growing interest in expanding services outside of just food, only greater and greater benefits will be there for end users. Hmm…I wonder how many calories one burns walking from the couch to the front door?
