Walter Saunders was Novice Horse Non Pro 1 & 2 (tie) champion at the Waco Warmup 3 Reining.
Arkansas State Champi- onship Horse Show was held September 1-4. The championship association title went to Northeast. HP champions were Mackenzie Gatewood (PeeWee), Allie Jane Briggs (Buckaroo), Ashton McKenzie (Jr), and Larry Brazil (Sr). In jackpot speed events, fastest times were Allie Sherman (barrels), Maggie Smith (poles), Marlee Hufstedler (flags).
Mid-Tex QHA’s September 8-10 show
in Waco resulted in HP champions One Lazy Amiga (Lvl-1-Am/Jennifer Murray), Ima Dia- mond Loper (Am/Nicole Eby), Zippen Good N Hot (Am-Select/Pamela Hunter) Pray About It (Lvl-1-Youth/Delany Simonis), and So Blazin Im Amazin (Youth/Madison Parduhn).
The VIP Team Roping, held September 9
in Glen Rose, paid out over $400K! Billy Bob Brown and Ty Arnold won the open average, with 38.69 on 5 head. LA Equine Council’s ranch riding clinic,
held September 15 in New Iberia, was con- ducted by Dr. Clint Depew and Johnny Boudreaux. Following the clinic, the last com- petition of the Ranch Riding Jackpot and Buckle Series resulted in the evening’s winners Howard Cormier (Op), Liz Gagnet (Am-NP), Tanner Trahan (Nov), and Emie Johnson (Youth). LEC Ranch Riding series champions were the same except for Marcy Center (Am NP).
The ACHA Extravaganza, held Septem-
ber 15-17 at Belton County Expo Center, proved to be a rewarding weekend. Having

won the youth cutting on Saturday on Miss Laredo Pie, J.T. West, of Brenham, was awarded the $500 Red Randolph Scholarship by Bell County Expo’s Executive Director Tim Stephens. HP riders Jonathan Bartok (Open) and Billy Owens (NP) each won a 2-night stay on Franklin Family Ranch in Blanco.
