Editor’s December 2017
Well, that’s the summer over for another year and now we’re faced with the prospect of long, dark - probably cold - nights that seem to stretch out forever. That’s why we’ve made sure that this issue of Modern Mum is extra jam-packed with great features that are sure to brighten up the darkest, coldest of evenings! Some of our long-term readers may remember the days
when Hazel Gaynor was a Modern Mum contributor. Well we’re delighted to say that Hazel is now a best-selling author,
with her first novel ‘The Girl Who Came Home’ a long-time feature on the New York Times bestseller list! I caught up with Hazel recently to find out how she’s combining motherhood with churning out bestsellers! (p8) If you’re pregnant at the moment, you’re probably trying to keep yourself in
peak condition physically. Swimming, walking and yoga are always recommended for pregnancy but, in this issue, we speak to fitness trainer, Johan Hagman, who tells you why you can bump up your exercise regime. Turn to page 14 to read Johan’s advice. New mums can sometimes find that, much as they love their babies, they feel a
little ‘cut off’ and lonely. If you find yourself in this situation, turn to page 43 and read maternity nurse Sarah Norris’ tips on socialising with your new baby. Many of you have contacted us to say that your other halves are loving the dads’
articles that we’ve been running, so I hope they all enjoy this issue’s great feature from Sam Avery as he tells us about the arrival of his twin sons (p50).
Enjoy! Debbie
