Hampton University Men Take Second in First Hampton Invitational

SUFFOLK, Va. – The Hampton University men’s golf team shot 310 on a rainy Tuesday morning at Sleepy Hole to finish second in the inaugural Hampton University In- vitational.


The Pirates shaved four strokes


off their second round of Monday to overtake North Carolina A&T who finished with 950 as Hampton came


in with a 941 over the 7,007-yard, par-72 Sleepy Hole Golf Course.


Taylor Osborne was the low man


for Hampton in the event with a fi- nal day 76 to total 229 and take third place. Alex Rivera was next with a Tuesday low round of 75 for a 231 and fourth place. Jordan Samuels was next with an 83 on Tuesday to finish at 242 and in 11th place,


while Justin Bates shot 86 to finish in 15th with a 249 and Arriek Doug- las shot a 76 to finish in 17th with a 254 total.


North Carolina Central won the


event with a final round 310 for a 938 total. Hampton was second (941), North Carolina A&T took third (950) while Maryland Eastern Shore was fourth at 977.


Hampton is now off until Oct. 7-8


when they compete in the Bucknell Invitational in Lewisburg, Pa.
