Inaugural CNU Women’s Golf Takes Second at 2017 Green Turtle Invitational

After the second round at the 2017 Greene Turtle Invitational, the CNU women’s golf team carded the second finest round of the tournament and finished with a second place effort. The Captains were 48- over par on the second day and wrapped up the two-day event with an 104-over 680, just 17 strokes behind champion Bridgewater.
“Obviously, we are disappointed
with the loss, but I am proud of the improvement the ladies had from round one to round two,” said head coach Jamie Coleman. “This event was a great learning experience and will help us become more successful as the season progresses.”
The CNU women picked up eight strokes from their first
rookie Katie Thome (+26). She fired an 11-over 83 on the second day and moved up to a tie for 9th place on the individual leaderboard. Francesca Iasci (+33) finished three strokes better than a day earlier and Harper Lurie (+48) picked up a pair. Finally, Cameron Cook signed her second day scorecard after picking up one stroke with an 88.
“This is a talented group of ladies,
and I am excited about the future of women’s golf at CNU,” Coleman said.

CNU will close out the fall portion of the 2017-18 season with one more tournament at the W&L Generals Invitational on October 2-3 in Lexington, Va.
