Hyster open house focuses on damage avoidance


D


amage limitation is among the most important factors in many industries,


particularly in the paper business when handling reels in storage or production areas, or on the ships and the quayside. During the Hyster Europe Big Solutions Showcase 2017 held at Weeze in Germany in September, a H12XM-6 truck fitted with a Bolzoni paper clamp was used to demonstrate fast and accurate handling of paper reels in the Damage Avoidance Zone. From single or double tower clamps to rotating clamp requirements, every paper roll handling operation needs individual clamping force settings and specifications to optimise the operation.

IP’s $300m containerboard investment


International Paper (IP) is planning to invest around $300 million to convert its PM15 paper machine at the Riverdale Mill in Selma, Alabama (USA), from uncoated freesheet to high quality whitetop linerboard and containerboard. The conversion is expected to


be completed by mid-2019 and will add 450,000 tons of annual capacity, with flexibility to shift between containerboard products. “Our customers expect us to support their growth and this machine conversion will meet their needs,” said Tim Nicholls,
