Train Smart For Triathlon Triathlon is the biggest growth sport in the UK.
Success from athletes like the Brownlee brothers have made the sport more popular than I could ever have imagined as I stepped into Sherborne Castle lake to complete my fi rst triathlon in 2005. This was an Ironman: 2.4 miles of swimming, 112 miles of cycling, rounded off with 26.2 miles of running. Madness, yes, but the ecstasy I felt running down the fi nishing shute after 13 hours will stay with me forever!
I have now fi nished 11 Ironman races across the world, numerous half Ironman distances and represented Great Britain in sprint races in Edmonton and Chicago.
I have been fortunate in my triathlon career to have been guided by some knowledgeable people, who have prevented me making many of the mistakes newcomers and veterans make when training for the varied distances.
I am now a qualifi ed British Triathlon Level 3 coach – one of the highest accreditations British Triathlon offers.
As a former police offi cer and father of two daughters, I know how hard it is to organise your training/ life/work balance. My coaching programmes
are bespoke to each individual athlete rather than being generic. I offer support and guidance as well as 1-2-1 sessions.
Whether it is your fi rst triathlon or you are trying to improve or looking at ‘going long’ for the fi rst time, I can give you structure and support.
