District Councillor Report


The East Dorset Energy Switch, supported by East Dorset District Council, is now live and available for residents across the whole of Dorset to sign up to, but you need to register by midnight on Monday 9th October.


The scheme is aimed at helping residents get a better deal on their gas and electricity, by using the collective buying power of customers to get energy companies to compete to win customers by offering them the lowest gas and electricity prices. Registration is free, it only takes a few minutes to sign up and there is no obligation to take up the offer. You can either register online at www.dorsetforyou.gov.uk/energy-switch or by calling 01202 795096.


In September, Cllr Sarah Burns and I visited Julia’s House Children’s Hospice, which is based in our village. I had requested a tour as Sarah and I had both made contributions towards equipment for the hospice from our 2015/2016 Ward Budgets and we were keen to see the good work carried out at the hospice. It was lovely to visit and see the high quality care the staff offer children with life limiting and life threatening illnesses. For some time now I have been voicing the need for

disability-friendly play equipment at our recreation ground, to make it more inclusive. I mentioned this to our tour guide, Laura Kelly from Julia’s House, and she confi rmed that such equipment would indeed be well used, both by children staying at Julia’s House and those less able bodied children in the wider community.
