160th Annual Beachburg Fair Welcomes the RAM Rodeo Tour
By Ross Millar The 160th Annual Beachburg Fair opened its doors and hosted the RAM Rodeo Tour this past weekend as one
of its main attractions. Located right in the heart of the Ottawa Valley, the small town welcomed the rodeo with open arms and spectators filled up the stands to cheer on cowboys and cowgirls on Saturday and Sunday! Congratulations to cowgirls Liz Hearne and Maddy-Lehman Ionson, who tied for first place in the Alberta Pre-
mium Ladies Barrel Racing. Emerson Moulten, the 2016 RAM Bull Riding Champion, took home first place this past weekend scoring a 74 on the bull known as Riker Red. System Fencing Pole Bending saw some great runs this weekend, congratu- lations to Tonya Becker who came out on top with her run under 22 seconds. The Case IH timed events would like to congratulate the following cowboys on their first place runs: Tim Kemp in Steer Wrestling, Susan Schum in Breakaway Roping, Brad Bowie and Brad Roe in Team Roping, and Scott McMahon in Tie Down Roping. Our Dickies Novice Bucking Horse graduate, Jack Miller won the open Bareback riding. The Timber Mart Youth events would like to congratulate Ben Peever on his win in Youth Steer Riding, and to Tayler Dunk on her Youth Barrel Racing run for second place!
Be A Part of a Rodeo Parade!
On behalf of the Grand River RAM
Rodeo hosting committee, we would for- mally like to invite each and everyone of our “horsey” friends to join us in kicking off the Grand River RAM Rodeo weekend! On Saturday August 19th, 2017 the
Grand River RAM Rodeo is hosting their first ever Rodeo Parade! The parade will begin at noon and make its way up main street and end at the rodeo grounds. We are inviting equestrians of all sorts and disci- plines (clubs, groups, schools, individuals, western, English, etc.) to join us to kick-off the weekend! As an incentive there
will be door prizes for par- ticipants and everyone who rides or drives a horse in the parade will get free ad- mission to the rodeo. We will have a horse-
drawn covered wagon in the parade and the Grand Valley Fire Department is looking for a team to pull their antique Bickle Fire Pumper, with some luck they will be in the parade too.
Each year the Grand
River RAM Rodeo chooses a different charity to be the benefactor of our fundrais- ing efforts and this year proceeds will go towards supporting 4-H Dufferin and 4-H Ontario. For details on the pa-
rade contact Steve Murphy a
