Housed in the 16th-century Hôtel d’Assézat, this formerly private collection was made public by Georges Bemberg in the early 1990s. Musée Bonnard Le Cannet, near Cannes Pierre Bonnard’s bright, bold style is celebrated in this dedicated museum of his works. This year, an exceptional


assembly of masterpieces from the Zeïneb & Jean-Pierre Marcie-Rivière collection, previously displayed at the Musée d’Orsay, marks the artist’s 150th anniversary. It includes 25 paintings and 94 drawings by Bonnard, as well as paintings, pastels and drawings by his friend Édouard Vuillard. www.museebonnard.fr


Beyond its important inventory, especially of Romanesque sculpture, the museum itself (one of the oldest in France) is an impressive building in its own right. Formerly an Augustinian convent, today it welcomes its many visitors with a beautiful red-brick façade, huge halls and a very attractive central courtyard.
