and Better Fit in Farnam’s
More Coverage
Redesigned SuperMask®
Ever since SuperMask® horse fly
mask came on the market three decades ago, Farnam has been the leader in fly masks for horses. As of 2017, a redesign on the popular prod- uct means more coverage, better fit and protection. Farnam®
SuperMask® horse fly
mask has always scored points with horse owners because it’s durable, stays on, and offers effective protection from flies, dust and debris without obstructing vision. There’s also the option of soft, mesh ears for additional protection. The redesigned Super- Mask®
The unique horse-proof Double-Latch Clo- sure gives SuperMask® horse fly mask twice the
horse fly mask offers all that--and more. “Our improved SuperMask is longer on the
nose and covers up to 20 percent more of the horse’s face,” explains Jeanne Parker, an engi- neer and seamstress who worked on the re- design as manager of manufacturing technology for Farnam. “The overall fit is now better for the horse.
The improved SuperMask fits better around the ears; it fits closer to the head with less gap around the ear area,” says Parker. “People with Arabs will especially appreciate the redesign, because those finer heads have been harder to fit with many masks.”
“stay-on power” of other masks. The redesign added an elastic band to the closure, allowing for more customized fitting. There’s even a place to personalize the mask and write your horse’s name on the tag to avoid mix-ups in sta- bles with multiple horses. Another improve- ment included tucking under and sewing the trim edges so there’s no unfinished edge. Farnam®
SuperMask® horse fly mask
comes in five different sizes to fit all manner of horses, and every size went through the re- design process. Use Farnam®
SuperMask® along with Farnam® fly and pest control prod-
ucts to give your horse a pest-free summer. For more information, visit

enteritis. The 7-year-old mare, bred, owned, and shown by Brandon Dufurrena, Gainesville, was the highest-earning daughter of $12 Million Sire Metal- lic Cat. She earned over $372,000 in her career and won 2 AQHA Amateur Cutting World titles.
Von Reminic suffered a broken leg while in pas-
ture with his mares and was humanely euthanized on June 6. He was buried at Armstrong Equine Service, La Mesa, NM. Born on the Brazos Bend Ranch out- side Houston, he set his first record as high-selling yearling at the 1998 NRHA Breeders Showcase, bringing $98,000 from purchaser Frank Bolea. He won the 2000 NRHA Open Futurity and was only shown 4 times, becoming the NRHA all-time leading money earner under the reins of Todd Sommers. He stood in California for a few years, but has been at Armstrong Equine since 2005. Offspring earnings exceed $300,000, amassing over 1500 AQHA points.
The Big Sensation, multiple world champion
and world champion sire, was laid to rest June 8. By the legendary late Zippos Sensation, the 2003 stal- lion was the only horse to win all 4 Open HUS classes (2-year-old, 3-year-old, Junior, and Senior), at the APHA World show. He also excelled in other English events in all-around competition. Condo- lences to everyone at Kristin Layher Show Horses in Pilot Point. w
