Tere’s a clutch of classics being shown again by Cinema City at our beloved Plantation Gardens on Earlham Road this summer. Pick from Alien, Ghostbusters, Absolutely Fabulous: Te Movie, Grease, La La Land, Clueless, Hunt For Te Wilderpeople and North By Northwest. Tey take place in the open, and there are some deckchairs available. Bring a picnic and your mates, or a special someone to cuddle up with as the sun sets, and avail yourself at the bar. Gates open at 7pm and the films start at 9:30pm. Buy tickets in advance online. Lovely job.

Last year Open debuted their Britpop night Common People with a special guest DJ, Dave from Blur. Tis month they’ve already sold out all the tickets for their summer party in the Club Room, so have added the 29th. Tere’ll be great DJs, live music and an outside BBQ. Keep a look out on social media for the People’s Playlist, two hours of audience curated tunes.

27-30 JULY Laugh In Te Park Chapelfield Gardens


Red Card Comedy Club return once again for a right old laugh in the park in a wonderful marquee at the end of July. Tis year they have a great line up, including Hal Cruttenden, Abandoman, Mark Watson, Terry Alderton and Russell Kane. Gates open at 6pm, there is a bar, and food available, and the shows start at 8pm.

29 JULY-01 OCT Nelson & Norfolk Exhibition


Head up to the Castle this summer to see a one-off exhibition all about Norfolk hero, Lord Nelson. Tere’s his coat and hat worn at the Battle of the Nile, reunited for the first time for more than 100 years, and the piece de resistance, an early French Tricolour Ensign (a massive, massive, massive flag) captured from the French warship Le Généreux in 1800 as well as many other unique objects all relating to the man who loved Norfolk as hard as he could. Let’s take it back, way back to the 1800’s this summer, and discover Nelson, son of Norfolk and the largest flag you’ve ever seen.

29 JULY Norwich Pride Te Forum & Chapelfield Gardens


Organised by enthusiastic volunteers, Pride returns this month with stalls at Te Forum and in Chapelfield Gardens, the legendary parade, Question Time which addresses political issues relating to LGBT+, a fabulous stage show, lovely rainbow loot to buy and natch, an inclusive, free, family friendly joyful atmosphere. Dress up, bring everyone you know and prepare to party.

After a well deserved break in 2016, Norwich Body Art Festival is back for its eighth year of convention goodness. From blackwork to dotwork via watercolour style and super realistic portraits, if you want a tattoo, or body modification in 2017, this is where you should be heading. With hundreds of tattoo artists from all over the world in attendance, ready to ink you good, as well as a ton of entertainments, shopping stalls and food and drink available, it’s a must on Norwich’s calendar. Te event runs from 12pm – 8pm on Saturday, and 11am – 7pm on Sunday, although you may want to get there early if you haven’t bought a ticket, as previous years have sold out!
