Communitywarden Thewarden reported on two scams. The firstwas requesting donations towards the Manchester bombing appeal and the second called for support after the ransomware incident that affected the NHS. There had been two reports of flytipping, one inWillow Close an one near Percy, on the Pilgrims’Way. Martin reported that the damaged bench on the Glebe Field had been reported to police. Dumped car The communitywarden had asked police twice to remove the car dumped on the A20, but itwas not a danger. A20 improvement schemeAresident asked about the progress of the scheme as hewas concerned about the speed of cars using the road. Cllr Powell said Kent Highwaywas hoping to progress the scheme soon. Cllr Moore asked whether Speedwatch coud be reintroduced and Cllr Allardyce offered to discuss this with Cllrs T and J Sams. Signs obscuredAresident reported that a hedge along the A20, by Chippendayle Drive,was obscuring the heightwarning sign for lorries approaching the bridge. The clerk offered to contact the residents.A parishioner said the 30mph sign next to the churchwas obscured. The community warden offered to look at this. Co-option Tim Griffiths introduced himself. After a discussion, itwas proposed by Cllr Stanley that Mr Griffiths be co-opted onto the parish council. Thiswas seconded by Cllr Dean, with all in favour. Medical centre The clerk had helped the practice manager complete a form to release S106 money so that an architect could draw up plans for the extension.
THE door padlock on an outbuilding in Otham Lane, Bearsted,was damaged but no entrywas gained. Agaragewas broken into in TollgateWay, Sandling, and a security boxwas stolen. In Fauchons Close, Bearsted, a handbag
and contentswere stolen from an unlocked car parked in a driveway. An attemptwas made to enter a garage in
Button Lane, Bearsted, butwas unsuccessful. Someone tried to remove a vehicle parked on the driveway. Apropertywas broken into in Stede Hill, Harrietsham, and a Scott electric mountain bikewas stolen. Someone broke into a vehicle in Birch
Drive, Lordswood, and removed items. In doing this, the vehiclewas scratched and a door damaged. AVauxhall Zafirawas damaged in
VintnersWay,Weavering. Someone tried to break into an outbuilding in PilgrimsWay, Detling.
Hollingbourne
Elections Mr Bedwell offered to stand as chairman andwas elected by the five parish councillors in aendance. MrWardwas elected vice-chairman. Tree surgeon The clerk would contact the tree surgeon again about seeing insurance documents before work took place around the playground and Cardwell Pavilion. Sad news Cllr Bedwell announced the death after a long illness of Elaine Lawrence who had formerly worked as parish clerk. Condolenceswere passed to her family. Parish assembly Cllr Bedwell thanked those involved for their work. Outstanding issues included the bin collection inAthelstan Green, whichwas being obstructed by vehicles blocking the road entrance. Itwas also of concern that the twinning activities were notwell supported by villagers. Crime report Therewere four crime reports: criminal damage in Greenway Court Road; vehicle interference at the motorway services; theft from a car at the motorway services; and a burglary in Hospital Road. Parks reportAsecond quotation had been obtained for the new play equipment at the village playground. The Millennium pond had re-filled itself withwater before a thorough clean could take place. It had been emptied again for required maintenance. Cardwell Pavilion .Alight diffuser had been damaged in the kitchen and a light bulb needed to be replaced in the hall. The refuse had not been collected for several weeks. Itwas proposed that LED lights replace the striplights in the hall. CllrWard would source prices for the lights.

Speedwatch The volunteer organiserswere standing down, due to increased bureaucracy.Aplea would be made for volunteers to take over the group. Crime figures The communitywarden highlighted an increase in email scams. Following thefts from cars, parishioners werewarned to keep valuables out of sight. The communitywarden reiterated the importance of asking doorstep callers for identification. Co-option Colin Huggens presented himself for co-option and itwas resolved to invite him to join the parish council. Elections Cllr Greenwood offered to
continue as chairman andwas appointed. CllrWalmsley offered to continue as vice- chairman andwas also appointed. Neighbourhood plan The groupwas close to a decision on sites for
development.An article requesting trustees for the Lenham Meadows Trust would be in the Focus magazine.MBChad indicated preferences that Lenham Storage and Marley sites remain as employment sites. Alternative sites for 200 dwellings would be needed. Parking improvements More police enforcementwas requested to dissuade motorists overstaying the two-hour limit in the Square. Cllr Cocke would look into the cost of installing electronic parking equipment at the Maidstone Road car park. Highways The poor lighting at the Faversham Road A20 junction would be discussed with KCC. Cllr Scrivens would organise a meeting with the highways steward. Damaged road name signs at Faversham Road had been reported. Play areas Cllr Culver had redesigned the signs for the play parks. The signs had been installed atWilliam Pi. Hamlets Cllr Smith-Essex said the BT Broadband upgradewas due to be connected in Lenham Heath. The free access hotspot provided by Virgin might be situated in the Square. Cemetery The works identified in the report continued to be undertaken, the handyman would cut back hedges and the collection of the rabbit-proof fencing would be arranged.

Sure Start Children’s Centre had asked to use the recreation ground onAugust, either 3,10 or 24, for an outreach summer event for under-5s. Thiswas agreed. Recreation play area The clerk would research the cost of replacing the lier bin outside the pavilion. Play equipment companies would be contacting the parish council with ideas for upgrading equipment for the play area. Highways Kent Highways had advised that the proposed white verge lines on theWents Kingswood Lenham Road would not be carried out until after the second road traffic survey at end June/early July, because the road surface required repair with microasphalt whichwas not programmed before end July.

from a vehicle parked on its own driveway in CharlesfordAvenue, Kingswood. In Forstal Road, Sandling, the visitor
centre at the parkwas broken into. An outbuilding in Coldblow Lane, Thurnham,was broken into and therewas an attempt to steal a digger. Abay treewas stolen from a garden in
Willow Close, Harrietsham. Aride-onmowerwas stolen from a garden in CharlesfordAvenue, Kingswood. The number platewas stolen from a Skoda Superb in Wykeham Grove, Leeds. Acrash helmetwas stolen and some doors
damaged during a robbery in Hurstwood Road, Bredhurst. In Coulters Close,Weavering, a Saab car
had a tyre slashed and its roof damaged and a Nissan Micra also had a tyre slashed on the same day.
