Forest, was a wash literally. Our fearless leader Helmut Hitscherich drove to the Dufferin, Friday and stayed until Sat- urday morning. He wanted to be there in case anyone else was brave enough to make the trek up. Temperature dropping to 4 degrees C at night. OTRA Rides go rain or shine. “Anyone can ride in sunshine, it takes the hardy ones to ride in the rain.” a quote from Helmut. So much rain had fallen that the trail and parking conditions were unsafe. This is the first time that I can remember a ride being cancelled. Twelve riders participated in the Victoria Day weekend Ride and Camp, May 19 to May 22,York Regional Forest, (Vivian Forest) Friday was cool and dry, Saturday was a perfect riding day, Sunday morning we had a good ride, the afternoon ride got a bit wet. The potluck dinner Saturday night was excellent as always. Our newest Family membership includes two young ladies age 6 and 9 years. They are delightful and exceptionally good riders for being to young. It was brought to our attention that we forgot to list in the Ride Schedule, the June 9 to 11 Ride and Camp in the Dufferin For- est. We apologize the Host, Karen Plume for the omission. Karen, your ride is one of the year’s best. Please forgive us and don’t stop hosting this ride. Our one day ride, Saturday, June 3, Dundas Valley, was total success. Prior to heading out on the trail the ten riders enjoyed one of the best tailgate parties ever. Three new Members chose this ride to be their first OTRA Ride. We were so glad that they did. The chili supplied by, Janice and Mike, hit the spot. Laurie enjoyed the day so much that she is already asking questions about equipment required to camp with her horse. The weather was spectacular. The trails were dry and in good shape. We were asked to stay off one trail only. Perfect day. We enjoyed more food after the

ride. Cowboys and cowgirls build up quite an appetite out on the trail. Love the camaraderie! “Bird bones usually contain air.
Many bird bones are hollow.” “When you are born in a world you
don’t fit in; it’s because you were born to help create a new one”.
