The owners ofWindmill House had agreed to water. Canoe club The canoe club had complained that the Environment Agency (EA) had locked the gate at the other side of the weir. The EA had told them to leave the river at the other side of the bridge where they get in. It was agreed this was a maer for the EA and the club. YaldingWater Safety Group An initial meeting was held. Events would take place throughout the summer and leaflets produced warning people of the dangers of the weirpool. Broadband Callflow were offering high speed via the three cabinets in Yalding and the one in Laddingford. Speedwatch The training was now done online. The current 17 volunteers had been asked to register. Four had refused, five had agreed and eight were yet to reply. Fireworks Yalding Gardens had several complaints about a firework display at a recent wedding, although several other
residents reported how much they had enjoyed them. They have decided only to have fireworks on Bonfire Night and New Year’s Eve. Kenward Trust would like to hold a fireworks display on November 9. The parish council had confirmed to Kenward that it is happy with this, but asked them to ensure it is in the village diary and to advise the Gardens. Hedges Harry Harrison had wrien to remind the parish council that the Jubilee Field boundary hedge had not been cut for three years. It was agreed that the work would be done. Co-option Sue Gerrish was co-opted to the vacancy on the parish council. Grants County Cllr Paulina Stockell had given a £3,000 grant for flood resilience measures and had also paid for a 20mph speed limit in Vicarage Road. Dumped cars The chairman reported the problem of cars being dumped at The Ta. Removal signs had been placed on the cars and photographs had been taken as evidence. Flooding The chairman had sent a list to the EA of properties that could be considered for Property Level Resilience (PLR). The EA would be writing to each property inviting people to have an initial drive-by survey to ascertain whether the property is suitable for PLR, after which a more detailed survey would be done. Best village It was agreed to enter the Britain’s Best Village Competition 2017. Lost dog The lost dog posters needed to come down now. Councillors would remove them. Teapot Island The owners were parking a caravan on the car park, which was not permied. The clerk would write to request them to remove it.
