Community warden Thewarden informed the parish council of a new volunteer supportwarden scheme – further details would be provided at the next meeting. Commemorative seat The seat in memory of the late Councillor CynthiaWebb had been installed in front of Holy Trinity Church in Coxheath. The church, with the support of the parish council,was now looking into commissioning a memorial to those who lost their lives in the World Wars and other conflicts. Speedwatch The volunteer campaign, backed by the deployment of police mobile cameras,was gradually reducing traffic speeds through the village.A large number of drivers have this year been charged to aend speed awareness courses while others had been fined and had points put on their driving licences. Street furniture Following a meeting with the street scene operations manager at Maidstone Borough Council, workwas in hand to remove, reposition and refurbish various items of street furniture. Bus shelter An alternative contractorwas being arranged to repair the damaged roof of the shelter in Heath Road. Games area Discussionswere ongoing between the developer, the parish council and the village hall management commiee over the construction of a multi- use games area on the public green open space on the proposed housing development at Linden Farm, Stocke Lane.
East Farleigh
Defibrillator The Old School Hallwere happy to accommodate a defibrillator but wanted to have a chat about where to site it. Village car park The pothole repairswere in hand and once they were done, the repainting of the parking bays could go ahead. HighwaysA meeting had been set up with KCC Highways to discuss traffic issues and possible solutions in the village. Horse trough The parish council agreed to accept the quote from The Stone Shop for £780 to replace the headpiece on the horse trough which had been damaged by a car. Recreation and play areas The monthly

inspection of the recreation field had been done. Most faultswere non-urgent, apart from the dangerous state of the container floor. The clerk had wrien to the football club,warning them not to use it. Fete The fete is set for June 24 and the parish council will run a bole stall. BroadbandA resident had offered to pursue faster broadband on behalf of the parish council and memberswere happy for him to do this. Website The clerk had aended training on the new parish councilwebsite and felt reasonably confident that she would be able to maintain it.
Headcorn
Weight restrictions Some of the signs had been installed, otherswere on order and one sign on Kings Roadwas inappropriately sited. The clerk would follow this up with KCC. Playscheme Itwas decided that the scheme would not go ahead due to building work at the school. This would go in the spring newsleer and on the website and on social media. Itwas hoped to run the playscheme next year. Flood forum The community resilience officer for the National Flood Forum had met with Tim Thomas and the problem areas identified. The officer, Sanjay Johal, would now be in touch with the clerk to discuss the next steps and arrange meetings with those affected. Housing petition The response to the petition regarding the right for local communities to choose where houseswere built had raised further concerns and the detail would be sent in a leer to housing minister Gavin Barwell. CCTV The clerkwas advised that the wrong PC contact detailswere on the signs. Itwas agreed to leave them as they were. Children’s centreA leer had been sent to Kent Education Services expressing concern of the parish council at the loss of this centre in an expanding village. Grigg Lane There had been extensive correspondence from parisioners, developers and other third parties on the issues in Grigg Lane. The clerk had agreed to set up a meeting with parishioner Mr D Williams, the chairman of the parish council, the clerk and an officer from Kent Highways. Donations Itwas agreed to make a donation of £250 to the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance, and a donation of £160 to Headcorn Handbell Ringers. Defibrillator Given that the fire station is manned 24/7, itwas thought to be a more suitable site than the railway station. Signs would be clearly placed to indicate where the nearest defibrillator is sited. The clerk was asked to check that Sainsbury’swas going ahead with the installation of a defibrillator sponsored by them. Pedestrian crossing The issues of a crossing on Wheeler Street had been discussed in 2006 and again in 2009 when traffic lights or a mid-road islandwere proposed. Both schemeswere rejected. Cllr Pyman, whose business overlooked the crossing, said the roadwas becoming more dangerous and itwas taking longer to get across. The clerkwas asked to arrange a site meeting with Kent Highways. Itwas also agreed that the clerk would look at lollipop schemes to alleviate the issue at
school times. Lier tour Cllr Round had toured the ward with Ian Packer from Maidstone Borough Council. It reinforced the issues already raised in terms of lier and flytipping and Cllr Round would continue to press for a resolution.
Communications group Parish magazine contributions would now be handled by Cllr Evenden. The noticeboards needed brightening up with more pictures and news. The team wished to reintroduce the Welcome to Headcorn handbook and would be working on this. Speedwatch Therewere currently 10 watchers whowere registered and had passed the online testing.A training session would be organised.
Hunton
Police report There had been two thefts in West Street, an aempted burglary in Shingle Barn Lane and two cases of criminal damage in Redwall Lane. Anti- social behaviour had been reported and a case of bad driving in Hunton Road. HuntonWatch SteveWyleswarned of various email scams.A cocker spaniel stolen in January from a property in Staplehurst had been reunited with its owner following a raid on a property in Bearsted. An aempted theft of tools in Hunton had been foiled by the owner. KGV playing field John Bates had resigned from the commiee and the football club had been asked if a member could take his place. Mole activity on the field had been reduced, but rabbits had become more of an issue. Peter King would be contacted. Play areas The commiee could find nothing wrong with the multiplay platform, despite reports from MBC. After receiving quotes from Outdoorsy Living, it was decided to sand down, repaint and repair the old multiplay. However, the area would be resurfaced and a nest swing bought, at a total cost of £8,092. Funding would be pursued. Defibrillator The clerk for Boughton Monchelsea Parish Council had offered informal defibrillator awareness training. Village hall The financeswere good. There were plans to redecorate the ceiling. Window blinds had been fied to replace old curtains and new tables had been bought. Therewere still issues with the boiler. The pre-schoolwas hoping to increase the number of hours it uses the hall and a 25% increase in price had been agreed. . Primary school The headteacher had now left the school. Yew treeA limbwas broken on an ancient heritage yewtree in the church yard. Mike Summersgillwas meeting otherwardens to find out how to deal with it. Advice had been given to some people about not cuing hedges and trees when birdswere nesting. The pondswere low – they had not refreshed themselves this year. Speed limit A permanent 20mph speed limitwas underway outside the school. Highways An email had been received about the footpath at the top of Amsbury Farm. Therewas a stile missing and parts were difficult to access. Cllr Heatonwas to contact David Munn at KCC. SteveWyles had logged 78 separate traffic incidents in the village since 2016.
