Novel Humic acids launched in UK
Global Crop Improvement Company (GCiC) recently launched Viscofol Black, a new Humic acid product which has several unique properties. It is a high-load product with 25% Humate content, made up of 20.5% Humic acid + 4.5% Fulvic acid. Te high level of Fulvic acid, which is the smallest molecule within Humate, means the product is highly mobile and is readily absorbed into the crop – this gives a rapid growth-stimulant effect. Te product is naturally extracted by a
micronisation technique which means it has micro-particle size (down to 5 microns) and is formulated as an SC flowable concentrate making it easy to handle and ideal for leaf uptake as well as soil application. Tis technology also means it can be used at relatively low dose rates compared to conventional Humic acid products. Te product can be soil applied, foliar applied,
and used as a seed dressing on vegetable seeds. It can also be applied through fertigation/ irrigation systems. Unlike most Humates on the
market (which are chemically extracted with a high pH) the product is pH 4.2 making it ideal for tank-mixing with agrochemicals and foliar micronutrients, on which it has a carrier effect. Tis in turn aids their uptake into the plant. Humic acids are generally natural chelating agents which explains this added benefit of using the product. Finally, as it is naturally extracted without
chemicals, it also qualifies as an organic product and is certified by OF&G in the UK. Early trials results this year on spring field crops
treated with Viscofol Black as a seed treatment at 1.0 l/ha show a visible increase in vigour, root mass, and uniform compact growth in the crop. Te company is now actively seeking growers to test the product on filed and protected vegetables and other speciality crops in the UK. Further information on Viscofol Black is
