Latest dryer control system on show at Cereals event loop system uses incoming and

Sukup Europe will be display- ing its latest dryer control sys- tem at this month’s Cereals event in Lincolnshire. The Sukup Eu- rope Quadratouch Pro takes ease of dryer operation and grain dry- ing effi ciency to a whole new lev- el, says the company. The QuadraTouch Pro control system is featured on all Sukup Europe Dryers. It is designed to be easy to use by operators while eliminating around the clock monitoring – further increasing productivity and effi ciency.

Simple to use The control system has been de- signed so that it is simple to use with straightforward menus. Us- ers are guided hrough all dryer functions where operator inputs are easy with a pop-up keypad for entering drying tempera- tures and discharge moisture set points. A Simultaneous Monitoring And Reaction Technology (Smart)

outgoing moisture sensors with algorithm programing to in- crease dryer effi ciency. This re- duces large swings in tempera- ture and discharge moisture so the dryer runs more effi ciently. The PLC-based system is built

to withstand harsh environments and can be situated next to the dryer or alternatively in a dryer plant control room. Optional re- mote monitoring of Sukup dryer is available through smart phone, tablet or computer. The control system works

alongside the automatic moisture sensors, patented metering dis- charge system and clean burning modulating gas burners. Sukup says this ensures a continuously accurate temperature – and more consistent fi nal moisture content during the drying process.

Stored grain insecticide launched within IPM wrapper

An insecticide protectant for stored grain and pulses has been launched by Barrettine Environmental Health.

Coupled with advice how to minimise risk of infestation together with monitoring traps and free insect identifi cation, the protectant is a component of the company’s Integrated Pest Management approach. Treatment cost is in the region of £1/tonne. Grain-Tect ULV contains 6g/l deltamethrin and 54g/l piperonyl bu-

toxide. Application by ultra low volume applicators, with an enclosed nozzle at 42ml/tonne of stored crop, protects against fl ying and crawl- ing insects for up to three and 12 months respectively. It is supplied ready-to-use in 20 litre containers through a wide network of distributors, who offer independent agronomy advice as well as Barrettine’s IPM support. The company can also supply dig- ital dosing pumps and advice about nozzle choice and installation.
