Rock Challenge Success Ensures Corfe Hills School Remains in Premier Division for 2018

dance created for the audition process. The theme was sensitively captured and Rebecca showed great professionalism and dedication throughout the whole process, from the auditions to running the rehearsals, right through to the Showcase in Bournemouth Pavilion in February and fi nally at the Guildhall in Portsmouth in April.

Corfe Hills School secured fourth place in the Southern Premier Final of Rock Challenge in Portsmouth on 29 April, battling against schools from across Dorset, Hampshire, West Sussex, Buckinghamshire, London and the Isle of Wight, including specialist dance schools. This was a fantastic achievement and testament to the commitment and talent of our students and staff.

The Premier Final is reserved for the competition’s top-achieving teams and the success at this year’s competition secures Corfe Hills a continued place in the Premier Division of Rock Challenge for 2018.

The performance was entitled The Hero Lies Within and was based on the London 7/7 bombings and was completely student led. Our choreographer for 2017 was Rebecca Collins and she did nothing short of impress with her intricate

Corfe Hills also won awards seven other awards on the night, including Stage Crew, Performance Skills, Entertainment, Stage Use, Choreography, Set Design and Video.

Students took on roles as Heads of Admin, set, costume, hair and make-up. These students have weekly meetings to discuss progress and to set targets for the week ahead. We believe this is what makes Corfe Hills’ Rock Challenge so exciting and so enriching for our students. It is an opportunity that they can grasp with both hands. As well as ensuring all aspects of the creation are running smoothly, our students plan and hold fundraisers to help fund our entry. Although our students are extremely dedicated to fundraising, Rock Challenge would not be possible without the help of the CHSA and we are extremely grateful and cannot thank them enough for their support.
