Chinese AcupunctureAcupuncture and Fertility

The use of acupuncture to treat female and male fertility has featured in Chinese medical text books for nearly two millennia. More recently, research

studies have demonstrated that

acupuncture has a role in increasing the effectiveness of IVF treatment. Many couples are choosing to use acupuncture

Acupuncture, practised in China for 2,000 years, endures because it works. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), of which acupuncture is part, is used by 1.3 billion Chinese people, alongside modern medicine, for their everyday healthcare needs. to

increase their chances of becoming parents, both naturally and with medical assistance. With over 35 years of practice, Geoff Wadlow has built up extensive experience in helping couples achieve a successful natural pregnancy using programmes consisting of acupuncture, diet, therapeutic exercise, relaxation and meditation. He also

provides support for couples and

individuals going through Assisted Reproduction Therapy (ART) which includes IVF, ICSI, FET, and IUI. He has a unique perspective in fashioning treatment programmes to help women cope with the challenges of IVF and help to ensure its success. G e o f f w o r k s c l o s e l y w i t h c o n s u l t a n t gynaecologists and fertility specialists,

Traditional Chinese acupuncture uses the philosophy and techniques of TCM, which has an understanding of how the body works that is different from modern medicine. It takes many years' experience to master traditional Chinese acupuncture in order that a practitioner can use it to it’s full potential.

In China, acupuncture is used to treat a very wide range of conditions, including many common ailments such as: arthritis; back pain; headaches and migraines; asthma; insomnia; anxiety; period pain; infertility; menopausal problems; digestive disorders; and allergies.

Dooley and Julian Pampiglione, both of whom encourage and support their patients in the use of acupuncture as an adjunct to ART.

In the UK, many doctors and physiotherapists also practise acupuncture, though this is normally what is called medical acupuncture. This involves a more Western scientifi c approach and treatment is usually limited to pain relief.
