planning for St. Patrick’s Day as one of my first cues that Spring is right around the corner as I get thinking about green grass, the Emerald Isle and of course delicious beers! One of the newest one’s to cross the Atlantic is GUINNESS HOP HOUSE 13 LAGER (5%ABV on tap only at fine pubs and drinking establishments everywhere). Named after “HOP HOUSE
13” located at the legendary St. James’s Gate Guinness Brewery in Dublin, their brewers have been itching to show off their stuff and their Brewers Project (which also includes Dublin Porter, West Indies Porter, Nitro IPA and more) has had some incredible results in Ireland – a country where craft beer has literally exploded over the last decade. When
you’ve been brewing Ireland’s most famous export (sorry Bono) since 1759 it’s easy to understand how people could mistake you for only making Grand Dad’s “pint of black!” Brewed with Guinness’ proprietary yeast (they really take the science of yeast seriously btw) and 100% Irish-grown malted barley it features American & Australian hop strains (Galaxy, Topaz and Mosaic) that don’t overpower the beers lager invigorating
characteristics! Tasting Notes: This delicious lager
has a bright honeyed golden hue with tight white foam cap lager and a delightful citrusy and floral hop nose. Lots of sweetish apple fruit flavour with a hint of lemon and soft flowers it is crisp and refreshing with a short finish - which is perfect for pairing with food. * I’d highly recommend this to any of you Beau’s Lugtread lovers – as it is definitely in their wheelhouse!
