sustenance on any ride). Merivale Road quickly got boring “if one is endowed with a three second thought span”. So we wandered west on Fallowfield (flat, big sky country but not inspiring), then we meandered north back into town (OOPS!) and finally onto Eagleson/March Road. The city is fine, but March Road led us into the countryside that was just escaping its wintery grasp. The sky opened up and as the sun shone you could actually feel life returning to the land.

AQUATOPIA
Just before jumping the “417” we spotted what looked to me like a “high end” grow-op and we turned into AQUATOPIA a pool emporium (on steroids). They have a great coffee/eatery hidden amongst the soul reviving waterfalls and gardens. “Darn!” it was too close to town, and although a perfect gathering place, we could not recommend it for this tour (Note to self - mark it down for the next tour). Almonte magically appeared on the horizon, as we rose and fell over the reawakening countryside. Arriving at the traffic circle we rediscovered THE DAILY SCOOP CAFE (with lots of parking). A natural first stop on our tour. We marveled at the quaintness of Almonte, with its regal housing and fantastic water falls. Knowing that time was of the essence, we only took a quick detour into town, noting the great location of THE BARELY MOW beside (or almost in) the river. We continued west on #49 then happily realized that the road (#16)
