received his 20-Year Medal at the event, praising his work as a Station Liaison Officer working at the
Haverfordwest headquarters. Keith Jenkins, Watch Manager
and Business Fire Safety Officer Pembrokeshire Command, received his 30-Year Medal at the event. Having begun his service as an apprentice mechanic at 16 in Haverfordwest Fire Station workshops in 1979, he joined the service as a firefighter
in 1985, where he worked in four commands managing Pontardawe and Haverfordwest Fire Stations before moving back to Pembrokeshire. Keith talked about his 30 years
in service, saying: “It’s been a long career but I’m still as keen as my first day. How sad is that?!” This month, Keith also took

Councillor praised for Christmas spirit PEMBROKE
COUNCILLOR Clive Collins is receiving recognition this month for his outstanding Christmas spirit. For the past 40 years, he has stood in for Rudolph, dedicating himself to pulling Santa’s sleigh through Pembroke Town. His faithful service was recognised
at the Mayor’s Christmas dinner, held in the King’s Arms Pembroke recently. Voicing his gratitude to Cllr
Collins and his wife, Enid, for their massive contribution to town life, the Mayor of Pembroke, Cllr Dennis Evans, said: “During the evening, I was able to recount the activities that my wife and I have been able to take part in since becoming Mayor last May and, in so doing, I emphasised the traditional events that we have certainly enjoyed being part of - events such as the Mayor making and the Fair. “We were keen to recognise
the fact that Cllr Collins has been pulling Santa’s sleigh for the past 40
years without a break and thought it appropriate him and his wife to sit in the sleigh as went up through the Main Street to St Michael’s Square. “But, in addition to this, we were
delighted to present Clive with a pocketwatch and Enid with a bunch of flowers in recognition of the support they have given to the Town Council in pulling the sleigh up through town. It is thoroughly deserved and an important part of what was an excellent night.” Expressing his thanks for the gift,
Cllr Collins said: “It’s the children’s faces that make it all worthwhile. This was obviously the first time that I have ridden in the sleigh and I have to say I was overwhelmed by the number of people that were following us this year.
“I am very grateful for the watch.
I wear a waistcoat and so I will be wearing it whenever I do. And it has the added advantage that it will keep me on time to make sure Santa won’t be late next year!”
