Police support White Ribbon Campaign DYFED-POWYS POLICE

are proudly teaming up with the Scarlets in support of a campaign to end male violence against women. Police officers, the fire and rescue

service and domestic abuse agencies attended the Scarlets v Cardiff Blues rugby match on Sunday (Jan 1) to raise awareness of the White Ribbon Campaign. The White Ribbon Campaign is

led by men who are willing to take a stand against violence against women and girls, and to be positive role models to other men in their community. It aims to address men directly,

so they understand the scale of the problem, and encourages them to take the White Ribbon pledge to ‘never commit, condone or remain silent about violence against women’. Each year in Carmarthenshire,

local domestic abuse services and partners hold events to raise the profile of the campaign and White Ribbon Day itself, which takes place on November 25. Chief Constable Mark Collins

said: “More than two women in the UK are killed every week as a result of violence perpetrated by men, and the White Ribbon Campaign is an opportunity for men to say ‘no more’.” Dyfed-Powys Police and partners

will be at The Barn training centre from 1pm on Sunday, January 1. Call in to meet officers, find out more about the campaign while children can get their fingerprint key rings made or do a bit of colouring. Natalie Hardess, Domestic Abuse

Coordinator for Carmarthenshire, added: “The White Ribbon Campaign is about men making a stand to say they won’t commit or condone any forms of violence against women. “We’re trying to get the support

from men to sign the White Ribbon Day pledge. This is also an opportunity to work with lots of agencies to raise awareness of violence against women and domestic abuse in particular.” For more information on the

white ribbon campaign, or to make your pledge to end violence against women, visit www. whiteribboncampaign.co.uk.
