GREAT BRITAIN / EMPIRE / WORLD - COLLECTIONS 21494
BRITISH EMPIRE/Commonwealth - collection housed in 6 matching blue - (black) leaved Lighthouse 32 side stockbooks in good condition - apparently some 8,000+ stamps of which approximatey 20% are mint. QV ranges through Kings and on to earlier QE - useful ranges from areas such as India, Malay, Newfoundland, Malta, NZ to name a few amongst many. No real ‘death and glory’ stamps noted but the type of material with only modest duplication that in years gone by one would have observed collectors buying, takking stamps for their collections and making up circuit books of balances. Certainly not suited to a collector buying sets or top mataerial - but useful nonetheless and catalogue value (though not really relevant to mention) may run into 5 figures (£10,000) - a great lot for fun and checking for varieties etc but not for the top-end collector… mixed condition but generally good... HEAVY LOT - OVERSEAS BIDDERS PLEASE ENQUIRE FOR SHIPPING COSTS ................................. £500
GB - 1840-circa 2008 3 Volume collection housed in good condition matching expensive blue Lindner albums with slip cases. Mint and predominantly used original collection - on the whole well identified with better material noted such as 1d black, unplated, x 2 (average), line engraved, wide range 1d red plates but no 225, surface printed ranges - through Kings to QEII - a very well filled collection in 3 very flexible Lindner binders as pages are not printed but uses the Lindner plastic page overlay system - strong ranges of defins and commems but very mixed condition noted - note mint hinged QV 5/- rose - o.g. but trace of light crease/bend - seahorses to 10/- used etc. Some useful mint decimal booklets + few better prestige bopklets. Catalogue value will probably run into several tens of £thousands - but not really the right way to look at this collection which is perhaps suited to a collector with reasonable budget looking to start/develop a good GB collection from a pre-established nucleus. Condition very mixed - but must be worth estimate or thereabouts. If you are seeking to create a top quality GB collection this lot is not for you. HEAVY LOT - OVERSEAS BIDDERS PLEASE ENQUIRE FOR SHIPPING COSTS ..........................................................£1200
GB - Collection of Machin Cylinder Blocks housed in 5 red 16 side A4 sized stockbooks. Generally a very wide range well identified and apparently UM NH throughout, much Ex Mike Holt New Issue Service. Includes Waddington, Questa, Harrison - various perf types including Chambon, finishes, lighter/darker shades, possibly phosphor shifts and gum types including ACP, FCP, PCP, PCP1, PCP2, PPP, Dextrin, PVA… A huge variety, each stockbook includes ‘Hampstead Castles’ photocopied pricelist in the front with all cylinders present ticked off according to Hampstead Castle (HC). Stated total HEAVY HC retail value £4,250 - how this relates to SG catalogue values is an unknown, however the whole lot is underpinned by a stated Face Value approaching GBP £450 so that an estimate value of £800 would seem very reasonable. Depending upon how one views cylinder shades in this period there may be modest duplication - but this barely figures in importance. Though the stockbooks appear to be a little ‘musty’ - we only spotted the very odd fault - but the collection would benefit by being moved into new storage books.
