The scope rings and mounts, the sling attachments, the stock screws, are they tight and secure? Is everything as it should be? And if not, then there’s time to deal with it and, if needed, get the necessary parts and professional help from such quality service providers as Gunco, LeBaron, the Stittsville Shooting Range Pro Shop, and Al’s Corner Store near Arnprior, as well as other shops sprinkled throughout the Ottawa Valley. It also affords us the opportunity to stock up on ammunition and other essential supplies well in advance. Most often we’re quite capable
of doing routine gun servicing ourselves provided, that is, we have the necessary basic equipment. But without a set of proper gunsmithing tools even doing little things, like tightening a loose stock or firming up a set of scope rings while sighting in, can result in marred screw heads and unsightly damage to the finish of a fine firearm and its accessories. For this reason, I believe that many of us are hesitant to do our own work as we’ve all seen what can happen. But it doesn’t have to be this way. For iron sights there are little
