ROVING REPORT

Curedsmokehouse PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY

BRIAN CORBIN & BOBBIE ROBERTSON

The fun thing about Bounder Magazine is that little surprises always come our way. One day a package arrived, and, lo and behold, there was a note from Curedsmokehouse telling us how much they loved the mag and gave us a number of smoked spices to try. They were really good, complementing the flavor of the food rather than overpowering it. Our curiosity got the better of us, so we sent our Roving Reporters, Bobbi and Brian to check them out.

We found the Cured

smokehouse in the hamlet of Waupoos (means running white rabbit), Prince Edward County, and had a great chat with Amy Mumby and Adam DeLorme. Amy and Adam had been wine makers for about ten years, and decided it was time to do something different. They still have involvement in the wine industry as consultants, but they turned their attention to smoking. Aren’t we lucky they did.

They started out smoking

salt and then went to every butcher shop in the area to see what the market needed. The

answer was DRY RUBS! And off they went. Check out their website for the product list at www.curedsmokehouse.com They believe in supporting their local businesses and buy as much of their ingredients as possible locally. You can also order from

them directly (there is no order too big or small) via e-mail at curedpec@gmail.com All Spices & Dry Rubs

are $4.99 each & packaged in 50g Fresh Seal Sachets unless otherwise stated. They are sold only in

butcher shops and, so far, they can be found in 45 butcher

AMY MUMBY AND ADAM DELORME

shops in Ontario. For those who are reluctant to purchase things over the internet you can find some of their products at:

Don’s Meat Market, Almonte, Butchers Edge, Perth, Beckwith Butcher, Carleton Place, Albert’s Meat Shop, Kemptville.

Enjoy the flavours

and experience of cooking with some excellent quality spices and rubs. We certainly appreciated the package they sent us home with and look forward to trying other products, too!
