RUSSIAN-BRITISH COOPERATION

CHAMBER OF COMMERCE HIGHLIGHTS PROSPECTS FOR TRADE BETWEEN BRITAIN AND RUSSIA

‘Prospects for continuing trade between the UK and Russia: continuation and evolution’ was the topic of discussion when members of the Russo-British Chamber of Commerce (RBCC) met in London for their annual Christmas Cocktails and Seminar, sponsored by Volga-Dnepr Group.

The event was addressed by HRH Prince Michael of Kent, Patron of RBCC before the more than 100 guests listened to, and took part in,

a panel discussion involving Dmitry Grishin, Commercial Director of Volga-Dnepr UK and senior executives from the international law firm, Clyde & Co., manufacturer Arnest Group, business consultancy Abion Overseas, and EY, the EMEIA oil and gas transaction advisory service.

The Russo-British Chamber of Commerce (RBCC) promotes, facilitates and supports

business between Russia and the UK. RBCC is a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee that has worked to promote trade and cooperation between the UK and Russia since 1916, helping companies in both countries to find trading partners and representing the interests of its member companies.

RBCC aims to be the first point of contact for Russian companies wanting to do business in the UK and for British companies wanting to do business in Russia.

RUSSIAN AND BRITISH VETERANS JOIN FORCES TO REMEMBER THE ARCTIC CONVOYS

Volga-Dnepr Group was one of the proud sponsors of a Christmas visit to the UK of Russian veterans of the Arctic Convoys.

This visit was to reciprocate Russian hospitality when a group of British veterans of the Arctic Convoys visited Saint Petersburg last autumn for the 73rd Anniversary of the First Arctic Convoy.

Eight Russian veterans traveled to the UK from St. Petersburg. During their visit they were hosted in Edinburgh by The Royal

British Legion (Scotland) and in Inverness by the Highland-Russia Connection Charity. Heading south, they stopped off in Newcastle where North East shipbuilders built the ‘Krasin’ icebreaker in 1917. Today it is housed in a museum in St. Petersburg.

In London, the group attended a Christmas luncheon as guests of The Guy’s and St. Thomas NHS Foundation Trust before heading to Portsmouth to tour HMS Victory. Another highlight of the trip was the presentation of Ushakov Medals to 36 local veterans of the Arctic Convoys, which took place in the Princess Royal Gallery of the National Museum of the Royal Navy.
