Qualify as a chartered legal executive with TVT&D
Thames Valley Training & Development is delighted that, subject to final approval, we will be able to deliver CILEx qualifications from our premises at Bucks New University from September 2013, writes David Podger, managing director
We expect to attract CILEx students to High Wycombe from a wide geographical area, as there is a considerable gap in the CILEx provision in the Thames Valley.
We will initially be offering the CILEx Level 3 Certificate in Law and Practice. This certificate has been designed to provide a short but rounded instruction to law and legal practice, and to formalise the skills and experience of those working as either a paralegal or in a legal support role. While the Level 3 Certificate is recognised as a stand-alone qualification, if students wish to continue in their progress to becoming a qualified chartered legal executive lawyer, they will also need to take the
Level 3 Professional Diploma in Law and Practice.
The added benefit for those employing CILEx students, who have successfully completed the Level 3 Professional Diploma, is that they can charge out their fee-earning time on the level D litigation assistant fee scale.
Becoming a chartered legal executive lawyer is an excellent career choice. There are opportunities for chartered legal executives to run their own departments, manage other lawyers and become judges. With additional training, chartered legal executives can become advocates and represent clients in court.
CILEx training allows students to adopt a flexible approach to studying, choosing a pace and progress best suited to their individual commitments. This flexibility is ideal for those who wish to fast-track their career, those who need to fit study time around their family, those who are changing their career path, or those with a busy day job. It offers by far the most affordable way to become a lawyer compared with the other traditional routes.
