Rice Lake wetland complex is composed of 5,660 acres featuring numerous shallow, forest-lined floodplain lakes and bottomland forest habitats.

Thompson and Flag Lakes and nearby floodplain and upland landscapes support a diverse flora and fauna, especially migratory water birds and raptors.
