Phone: 815-875-8732 Potawatomi, Sauk and Fox tribes convened here in the 19th century. The trunk of this oak tree is 14 feet in circumference, its branches spread over 80 feet, and its acorns are as large as one’s hand.

The area is comprised of a restored strip mine that has attracted a vibrant community of plants and animals to its forests, lakes and grasslands. The site is excellent for locating water-associated birds.
