2010... A momentous

feat in the face of momentous change

CAPS

Te Department of Education’s announcement in 2010 of the implementation of the Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statements (CAPS) across Grades R to 12 – and the subsequent call for brand new learning and teaching support material – posed a momentous challenge to educational publishers across South Africa. Te standard eighteen months in which a book was developed – from manuscript stage through to editing, typesetting, more editing and finally publication – was whittled down to an average of just three months.

Oxford met this challenge with gusto, employing an army of authors, typesetters, illustrators and editors and freelancers to develop close to 1 400 learner’s books, teacher’s guides, workbooks and reading books in just over 36 months.

Additionally, our experienced team of teacher trainers facilitated over 3 000 training workshops to support teachers to implement CAPS in their classroom.

With over 1000 of our CAPS books approved for use in South African classrooms, our commitment to a tradition of excellence in each book we publish has never been more evident.
