A tradition of award-winning South African dictionaries

2009...

Oxford University Press Southern Africa has over the years established an ever-expanding range of bilingual and multilingual dictionaries, solidifying our commitment to the development of indigenous languages in South African schools. Tis range includes the first series of bilingual dictionaries in all eleven official languages for learners in Grades 2 to 4, an English-IsiXhosa bilingual dictionary for Grades 8 to 12, and three award-winning bilingual dictionaries for Grades 4 to 9, in Afrikaans and English, Northern Sotho and English, and IsiZulu and English – winners of a 2010 ATKV Word Wise Award, and a 2009 and 2012 South African Translators’ Institute (SATI) Prize respectively.

Te SATI awards strive to promote multilingualism and indigenous languages, as well as cross-cultural understanding – a vision shared by Oxford in the development of a growing range of bilingual dictionaries.
